Adelaide, Australia
- The First Stop in World Cycling - Mutual Community Challenge Tour Jersey
Launched
The Tour Down Under today unveiled the new look Mutual Community
Challenge Tour jersey. The 2008 jersey design is ochre in colour, celebrating 10
years since the inaugural Tour Down Under in 1999.
Andrew McEvoy, Chief Executive, South Australian Tourism Commission said
that the new look ochre Mutual Community Challenge Tour jersey would be popular
with riders.
“Ochre is a colour that is strongly associated with
Australia and unique to the Tour Down Under. The jersey is ochre in
colour, ensuring beyond the
Mutual Community Challenge Tour day that riders will always standout in
their own peloton.
The 2007 Mutual Community Challenge Tour saw record
participation, with 2696 amateur riders taking part. We expect this to
only increase with the Tour
Down Under’s recent achievement of UCI ProTour status.”
”The Mutual Community Challenge Tour is a must for all
amateur cyclists, and the ride kicking off in Mannum against a backdrop
of the River Murray will
provide an exciting and challenging ride for all participants,” Mr.
McEvoy said.
In an event first, participants will be able to collect
(if they desire) their MutualCommunity Challenge Tour jersey and
wristband prior to ride day on
Monday 21 until Wednesday 23 January 2008 between 11.30 am and 6.30 pm
each day in the Adelaide City Council Tour Village, Victoria Square.
Jerseys not collected on this day will be available at the chosen start locations.
“We are encouraging as many recreational riders who
cycle as part of a group to form a team and work together over Stage 4,
keeping track of each other
along the way with a personalised team name printed onto the official
Mutual Community Challenge Tour Jersey,” said Andrew McEvoy.
Teams must have a minimum of five riders, one being the
nominated captain, and must register before 5:00pm Friday 23 November
2007.
Each team member will receive: A Official Mutual
Community Challenge Tour jersey specially printed with their nominated
