Nominations now open for the 10th Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards

The Cycling Promotion Fund is delighted to announce that nominations for the 10th Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards are now open. Since 2002 the Awards have recognised the contribution of individuals, groups and organisations in promoting bicycling and providing greater opportunities for the community to ride a bike.

Recognising the growing support for these awards, the National Heart Foundation has continued its relationship as the principal sponsor for this year’s awards. In the 10 years of the awards, we have seen outstanding nominations from right around Australia and we expect this year’s nominations to be no different.

Whether it’s an individual, group, business, event or school, nominate them for an Australian Bicycling Achievement Award. Maybe you know of a local advocate, bike shop, educational institution, or bicycle-friendly local business that promotes cycling and goes that extra mile. Or have you been to an inspirational cycling event that deserves recognition?

These Awards recognise commitment, innovation and perseverance in improving cycling conditions, so if they make a positive impact for people who ride a bike, nominate them for an award.

Winners of the 2010 Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards included;

  • Isabel Ross – working in the Kimberly’s with disadvantaged youth
  • Fiona McColl – former executive director of the Australian Bicycle Council
  • Charlie Pickering – for his work in the media
  • Southern Flinders Regional Tourism Authority (SRFTA), a joint approach from several LGA’s to promote cycling in their region of South Australia.

We know there are many more stories to tell and we look forward to receiving nominations for this year’s awards.
