The Cycling Promotion Fund is pleased to be a co-host of the ‘Emerging Crisis Summit’.
The summit will be jointly hosted by the Australasian Railway Association, Australian Conservation Foundation, Australian Local Government Association, Bus Industry Confederation, Cycling Promotion Fund, Heart Foundation and International Public Transport Association.
The Summit will be the inaugural joint advocacy effort of the hosting organisations and a key policy forum for discussion between Industry and Government about the transport and the impact on it of emerging crises of congested cities, a growing population and the added demand on resources this creates, climate change, future energy security and the role of public and active transport in addressing these national challenges.
Summit Aims
As representatives of key bodies in the public and active transport, Local Government, health and environmental sectors our aim is to identify policy solutions to the key challenges facing Australia in the future and work with the Federal and State Governments in delivering them.
This summit will challenge all political participants at a federal level to define the role of active travel in addressing an emerging transport crisis.
An outcome of the summit will be a list of key actions required by the government in the design a Australia’s future transport system.
The recent release of the Our Cities Our Future: National Urban Policy for a Productive, Sustainable and Liveable Future by the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport the Hon Anthony Albanese MP has the potential to be the genesis of a long term policy framework for how we address transport in our cities.
