Introduction - The Cycling Promotion Fund (CPF), an initiative of the Bicycle Industry in Australia, is pleased to provide its submission to the 2010 national urban policy discussion paper ‘Our Cities – A national strategy for the future of Australian cities’ (“Our Cities”) and contribute to the Australian Government’s effort to establish a National Urban Policy.
The CPF is a program of Bicycle Industries Australia which aims to ensure that cycling is a safe, popular and convenient activity for people of all ages. CPF membership is open to any business, which imports, manufactures or wholesales bicycle products, and/or provides services to the point of sale sector of the bicycle industry and supports our mission.
The Fund undertakes a range of activities to promote and advocate for cycling as an active transport solution that can help address equity of access to transport options, climate change, traffic congestion, public health and urban liveability.
