Nominations for 2010 Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards now open!

Know someone who deserves national recognition for their commitment to promoting cycling? A local council or state government that has helped improve conditions for all bicycle riders? A bike shop or local business who goes further than just providing good customer service? A fantastic cycling event that deserves recognition?

A professional or volunteer who's shown a real commitment towards making Australia more bicycle-friendly? Or you know of a media personality, journalist or politician who's shown their support for cycling? Make your nomination now!

The Cycling Promotion Fund, (CPF) an initiative of Bicycle Industries Australia Ltd. (BIA), believes that making Australia more cycling friendly requires vision, commitment, action, innovation and persistence. Without the work of dedicated individuals and organisations, many of the facilities and initiatives that we have the benefit of today would not be there.

To achieve this, the CPF established the Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards in 2002. Since the Awards inception, the scope and quality of nominations has increased considerably, illustrating the excellent initiatives being undertaken that are shaping the future of Australian bicycling.

The National Heart Foundation of Australia is the principal partner for the Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards. The support from the Heart Foundation for the Awards comes at a time of increasing concern about rising obesity and falling levels of physical activity among our school children and Australian families.

The Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards are open for nominations to 5pm, Friday, 18 March 2011.
