National Bicycling Achievement Awards - Award for Contribution towards Cycling by a Politician
The
nominations for the Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards are closing very
soon.
For the
last 8 years these national Awards have been recognising the achievements of
businesses, individuals and our representatives in getting more Australians
cycling.
If your federal representatives have been instrumental in proposing or
supporting efforts or programs to make it easier for people to ride in your
area, then you should consider nominating them for a Bicycling Achievement
Award in the category ‘Award for Contribution towards Cycling by a Politician’.
These
Awards are recognised nationally and each year the nominees and winners are
awarded at a national event in Canberra
with members of the government and opposition in attendance. All winners and
nominations are recognised in a full colour publication distributed nationally
and with a media campaign to ensure the word about the winners gets out in
their local area.
We always ensure we have images available for use by all
nominees and winners in attendance.
The
Cycling Promotion Fund organises the Awards because our national decision
makers and all levels of government need to know the contribution that cycling
is making towards so many of our national priorities.
With this Award category
we also want them to understand the contribution made by our political
representatives. This year, one of Australia’s most respected
cardiovascular and medical research organisations, the Heart Foundation, is our
major partner.
This vote of confidence by the Heart Foundation has added
significantly to the credibility of the Awards and reinforces cycling’s
importance in the area of preventative health and the built environment.
By
nominating and supporting the Awards you are ensuring that we continue to
recognise the efforts of those who are making a difference and increasing
cycling in this country. Please
consider nominating your representative this week for the Awards.
The Awards will be held in Canberra
in the week of 14 June at a function which will be attended by industry
representatives, stakeholder groups, federal members and senators.
If you
have any questions at all, please give Chris in the office a call on
(03) 9818 5400, but hurry as the nominations must close next Monday.
