One month to go for nominations for National Bicycling Achievement Awards

Programs to get more children riding to school and initiatives to improve communities around Australia are leading the nominations for this year’s Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards.

With only one month to go until nominations close on April 12, the Cycling Promotion Fund is delighted with the strong interest.

“Nominations this year are strong and there is enormous interest from both regional and urban areas for programs that make it easier for people to get out of their cars and get into cycling” says the Fund’s spokesperson Stephen Hodge.

2009 Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards

“These national Awards have played a key role since 2002 in promoting and acknowledging the most successful initiatives to encourage cycling around the country. Although this year looks like being the biggest yet we hope to receive further nominations from all States”.

“We urge schools, community organisations, workplaces and governments at all levels to submit a nomination for one of the Award categories,” Hodge said.

The Awards ceremony will be held in Canberra and attended by Award nominees, Members of Parliament and industry people from around the country. The date (in June), key note speaker and venue will be announced soon.

Nominations close 12 April

Nominations are open until the 12th April for the 8th annual Awards which were first held in 2002.

The Awards cover a number of categories and nominations can be made online or via a form downloaded from the website: www.cyclingawards.com.au.
