The Cycling Promotion Fund is calling for continued Commonwealth investment in bicycle infrastructure projects of national significance following the release this week of statistics showing 2009 bicycle sales* of 1,154,077.

This also marks the 10th year in a row that bicycle sales in Australia have outstripped cars and the 8th year in a row they have exceeded 1 million. “Australian bicycle sales have shown amazing strength throughout the global recession,” said Stephen Hodge, spokesperson for the Cycling Promotion Fund.
