Cycling Promotion Fund Workplace BUG Survey - Help us to help you (22 April 2009)

Dear Workplace BUG Coordinator,

Australia is faced with a number of health challenges. The Federal Government is seeking input and policy advice on effective strategies to increase physical activity levels to improve community health and wellbeing.

Workplace bicycle user groups play an important role in inspiring and supporting people to take up and maintain regular physical activity through cycling.

The Cycling Promotion Fund is undertaking a survey of Workplace Bicycle User groups in Australia to gain a greater understanding of:

  • The size and scope of workplace bicycle user groups
  • The range of activities undertaken by workplace bicycle user groups
  • The level and extent of business/organisational support and incentives to encourage cycling to work
  • Support which would assist workplace BUGs to maintain and expand their activities

This information will be used to provide policy advice to the Commonwealth Government to make a strong case for Government investment and support for effective workplace strategies to increase physical activity through cycling.

The survey has 5 sections:

  1. About your organisation
  2. Membership
  3. Your activities
  4. Workplace Support
  5. Communications and promotions
  6. Miscellaneous

Individual responses will be kept confidential.

Not all questions will apply to your organisation therefore we have made many questions optional. But the more information you give us, the stronger the case we will be able to make for greater investment and support.

This survey should take an estimated 10 minutes to complete. If you are not able to complete it at once, you can copy and save the URL and return to the survey again to complete it.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or if you want to order some of our resources.

Of particular interest to your workplace BUG could be our new Cycling Safety Videos clips with practical tips on how to avoid some common risk when riding in traffic.

Please fee free to contact Rosemarie  if you have any questions about the survey or the work the Cycling Promotion Fund is doing to promote and encourage cycling.

Kind regards,

Rosemarie Speidel,
