Nominations now open for the 2008 Australian Bicycling Achievement Awards (19 November 2008)

National Bicycling Achievement Awards 2008

As many of us realise, making Australia more bicycle friendly requires action, commitment, innovation, vision and persistence. Without the work of dedicated individuals, organisations and local government, many of the facilities and initiatives we take for granted today would not be there.

The Bicycling Achievement Awards were established in 2002 by the Cycling Promotion Fund to recognise innovation and achievement and to inspire others.

Please consider nominating your local council or shire, especially if they provide local cycle-specific infrastructure, advocacy, sustainable transport initiatives and provide community forums, especially via transport safety groups or bicycle advisory committees.

Maybe you know of a hard-working person in your area, a cycling group, local school, bicycle shop, bicycle-friendly business, councillor, politician or an organisation that deserves recognition from the cycling community?

All nominees will be included in a booklet that is distributed far and wide. Winners in each category will also receive a cash prize of $1,000. Deadline for nominations is the 19th December 2008.

The Cycling Promotion Fund has created a dedicated website to enable people to make registrations online.
