The BUG survey result is now available
Thank you to the many grassroots cycling organisations who took the
time to fill in the survey. We are very pleased by the great response
(77 completed the whole survey) which has enabled us to get
an excellent snapshot of the great work Bicycle User groups around
Australia are doing to promote and encourage cycling.
The survey finding also point out that there are a number of areas
which BUG's would like support including access to affordable insurance
cover, training, assistance with developing a website, access to
publications and support material as well as regular updates on
campaigns and cycling issues.
The Cycling Promotion Fund is currently investigating a
number of opportunities on how we can address some of the identified
needs.
Some of the things we are already puttting in place include:
- We are improving the CPF website to make it easier for cycling
organisations to locate our resources and publications for promotion
and advocacy.
- We are currently exploring opportunities to provide a website template for BUG's to make it easier and more
affordable to have a web presence, including hosting options
- We are exploring options to make insurance more affordable and accessible for BUG's
- We are exploring opportunities for training as identified in the survey
- We are currently setting up an e-news bulletin to enable BUG's and Club's to subscribe to a e-news letter to keep
them informed about cycling issues, campaigns, resources and training
opportunities
A number of recommendations require further exploration and
discussion and we encourage people to register their interest if they
like to become involved in a working group to explore those issues more
fully.
Please contact Rosemarie Speidel,
Program Director, Cycling Promotion Fund to register your
interest. Initial discussion will be by email and phone
conference calls (cost covered by the CPF).
If you like a printed copy of the survey findings please contact the CPF office.
