Carry Gear and Shopping

I would ride more often but I have to carry gear and the shopping on the way home

Bicycles are a very versatile form of transport. There are a number of ways you are able to carry luggage and shopping depending on the weight, your budget and how often you need to carry gear. The options include:

  • Backpacks and courier bags (for every day light-weight gear)
  • Luggage racks which can be attached to the back or front of your bike
  • Panniers which fit on the luggage racks and enable you to carry the shopping as well as other gear
  • Baskets, they can be attached to your handlebar and are very popular in Europe (more suitable for light weight gear)
  • Bike Trailer, let you carry kids, the dog, the weekly shopping or camping gear (more expensive but if you do not have a car or do not want to use it often, it is worthwhile to invest into a trailer)
