Buying a Bike - Recreational

I would like to buy a bicycle for recreational purposes but would also like to be able to use it for riding around town. Where do I start to look?

Do your research and talk to people you know who ride bicycles to find out what they like about their bike. Finding a bike which suits your needs is important to ensure that you enjoy and maintain your riding. A few points to consider before buying a bike:
  • Practicality
  • Price range you are able to afford (a cheap bike is not a bargain if it does not meet your needs and collects dust)
  • Durability
  • Comfort
  • Weight
Visit a local bike shop (use Yellow Pages to find your local bike shop or ask people to recommend a bike shop they have had a positive experience with) For mor information on what to look for when selecting a bike download our pamphlet on buying a bike
