Liveability

Cycle friendly communities are also more livable communities

Some of the features of livable communities include

  • Residential areas that are mixed with shopping so that people can cycle and walk to shops and services

  • Streets and paths which connect to multiple destinations

  • Jobs and residential areas are close to business centers so that people can bike and walk to work

  • Safe routes to schools to enable children to walk and cycle to school

  • Neighborhood parks are safe and well maintained to enable children and adults to be physically active in their neighbourhoods and meet people

  • Well-marked pedestrian and cycle crossings help people walking and cycling feel safer when crossing roads

  • Traffic-calmed streets which make it easier and safer for people to cycle and walk
