From Bike Europe: United Nations Reaches Out to the Bike Industry
Munich, Germany – The United Nations and ICLEI,
an organisation that represents the 500 biggest cities in the world,
are inviting the bike industry to take part in the Global Alliance for
EcoMobility. Goal of that organisation is to join forces in favour of
environmentally sound means of transport such as cycling and walking to
reduce the citizen’s dependency on the car. |

The Cycling Promotion Fund believes that BUGs do a great job promoting and supporting cycling in
their localities and workplaces.
We have engaged a consultant to undertake a survey on
our behalf to assist us to get a clearer understanding of BUGs in
Australia and to identify areas in which we can provide support and
resources to strengthen the capacity of BUGs to achieve their vision
and goals. |

Bike Biz: London's bike boom continues
The number of cyclists on the capital's major roads increased by a further
six per cent between March 2006 and March 2007. The number of cyclists
in London has soared by 83 per cent since 2000. PLUS: a new telly ad
campaign starts soon.
The new figures revealed today, came as Ken
Livingstone, the Mayor of London, launched a new TV advertising
campaign, 'You're better off by bike', to encourage even more Londoners
to take to their bikes this summer. There are now an estimated 480,000
cycle journeys every day across London, around 30,000 more than a year
ago. |
